After India’s largest mobile service operator Bharti Airtel’s bold move to hike the tariff, all operators is following the trend.
Country’s National Telecom backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) which has already revised its Voice tariff plans as earlier we shared on TelecomTalk, now bad news goes for high SMS users of BSNL.
BSNL has increased SMS charges now the operator charges 5p/SMS instead of 1p/SMS with its new STV 13 SMS pack. BSNL also revised some plans and introduced a new SMS packs.
Details of BSNL’s Revised SMS Packs
Existing Offers | Existing offer | New offer |
Rs. 13 | Local & std sms @ 1p for 30 days | Local & std sms @ 5p for 30 days |
Rs. 20 | 100 local sms/day or 2000 sms for 30 days | 100 local sms/day or 1000 sms for 15 days |
Rs. 31 | 2000 local + 1000 std sms for 30 days | 1000 local + 500 std sms for 15 days |
Rs. 52 | | 2000 local + 1000 std sms for 30 days |
· The MRP of the STVs is flexible of Rs. 3 (+/-) of above price, depending upon local market condition and technical feasibilities available from circle to circle.
· All plans are for both 2G and 3G prepaid users of BSNL.
· New tariff is applicable from 1st September, 2011.
Though in the circular BSNL adds: “The impact of above tariff needs to be analysed and feedback submitted on monthly basis to BSNL HQ for future reference” I doubt BSNL will stick to newly revised plans.
What BSNL messed up, they simply reduced both the validity and benefits, as a result users may move to other operator as per as their sms requirement.
